The Art of Technology Education Program’s (ATEP) Purpose is to provide youths in under served communities, ages 12- 18, an opportunity to learn digital art. Its Mission is to:

1.Stimulate the young, curious, creative mind through digital training and support.
2.Provide a means of self-expression, and thereby foster a sense of self worth.
3.Share the message of Peace with the community through a collaborative, creative, experience with Art.

What We Do
We work with community centers, schools and organizations to provide youths with an understanding of digital art. The programs we offer are basic seminars to project specific, interactive digital design. We are in development of a animation workshop for the more advanced digital art student.

What We Have Done
In June 2001, ATEP conducted a seminar for the San Francisco Black Film Festival, which contributed knowledge about the filmmaking process to the community. Shortly after, ATEP held a similar seminar at Rawlston Junior High in Belmont, CA. Inspired by the school’s animation production elective class; ATEP formulated the goal of sharing information and understanding how students and technology interact. Given the scope of information we have to provide, we tailor our presentations based on the request of teachers and program directors.

How We Do It
Presentations consist of showing the current film under production, going through all the aspects of production from initial concept to a completed film, and sharing details and answering questions about the process such as script writing, storyboarding, layout and character animation, modeling, texturing, and sound recording.

Our Future
We are developing more specific programs to meet the basic needs of community centers, schools and organizations. An interactive digital seminar, which will focus on creating artwork around the message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is in the works.
