Professor “E”

Purpose of the Project

The purpose of Professor “E” is to raise awareness among youth nationally and internationally (ages 6 to 11) about self sufficiency and economic independence with special emphasis on youth in underserved communities. Professor “E” is planned for 15/3min animated, musical rhyme shorts (a la School House Rock.)

Problems and Issues to be addressed

Nationally, high profile professions such as Sports and Entertainment make an impression on the very young and creating false hope for many. It becomes increasingly important to offer up alternatives for careers. Globally, the issue is more of education of economic values.

According to the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, youth are 40% more likely to believe that they themselves could start a successful small business if exposed to the idea. Professor “E” (the “E” stands for Entrepreneurship) is an animated character that teaches youth to think for themselves. Professor “E” becomes a conduit by which youth learn about starting and owning a business.

By starting this education at an early age, it becomes second nature to think of community development as an option for a chosen profession. For those that do, they then become ambassadors to their communities for independent economic thought and education.
